Ebasco Services Appoints Transition Consultant
New York, NY- February 13, 1970- Constantine Cristo, dba InAmerica, announced today he had been retained by his former employer, Ebasco Services, Inc., a New York-based utility consulting and construction company, to oversee the transition of the company’s computerized estimating information system. Cristo resigned from his position earlier this year as an estimating engineer, having initiated the development and design of the system.
Cristo had initiated the development of a computerized alternative to Ebasco’s manual estimating, by writing a computer program that would estimate the cost associated with a condenser unit used in a electric utility plant. The program, developed for specifically Ebasco’s Burroughs 5500 mainframe computer, produced an estimate in less than an hour to one calculated by an estimating engineer in two to three days. The increased productivity was immediately apparent. Cristo resigned when a senior engineer, with no computer experience, was appointed to oversee the effort.
The engagement is expected to last for 4 to 6 months.
