Atlas Tower Proposes Move to Miami Industrial Park To Address Major Increase In Tower Sales

Tulsa, OK- July 6, 1982 -  Atlas Tower Corporation announced today it had submitted a prospectus to The Miami Industrial Authority demonstrating the feasibility of relocating its entire manufacturing, shipping and administrative operation to an abandoned industrial facility at 22nd and “D” Street within the industrial Park.  The prospectus was the result of an invitation by Mr. Tom Bomford, Chairman of the Industrial Development Committee for the Miami Chamber or Commerce to consider the subject location.

Atlas Tower CEO, C. Gus Cristo said, “Since acquiring Atlas Tower, we’ve been growing at a compounded annual rate of 70%.  We’ve outgrown our facility and need to plan for the coming boom in cellular communications towers.”

A prime thrust of Atlas Tower’s campaign for market dominance in the near term is its entry into the equipment leasing business.  Recently, Atlas Tower negotiated its first major sale-leaseback of an entire FM broadcast station, including land, tower, transmitter, electronic and studio equipment.  This is a departure from the traditional role of tower manufacturers, and places the Atlas Tower as the tower component in many new lease opportunities.  News of the lease arrangement, has already generated a number of inquiries.

The sale-leaseback, valued at approximately $600,000, has been taken on toally in-house.  As Atlas Tower is exposed to more high power TV applications in the very tall tower category, similar leases will be in the $3 to $5 million range.  The move projected labor requirements that would begin at 52 after 12 months and 132 after 36 months.

Atlas Tower is an operating unit of InAmerica Consulting, which is an Oklahoma-based turnaround consultancy.
