Resource Group Industries Acquires Troubled Steel Fabricator; Changes Name To Fit Industry

Tulsa, OK- September 15, 1981 -  Resource Group Industries, Inc. (RGI), formerly a reseller of IBM General Systems Division (GSD) computers, today announced that it had acquired V & B Tower Construction Co., Inc., a Vinita, OK-based manufacturer and erector of broadcast and communications towers.  As part of the transaction, RGI will change it name to Atlas Tower Corporation, to reflect the casual reference to towers built by V & B as ‘Atlas Towers.’  Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, other than the fact that V&B was a distressed company and that RGI was a turnaround firm.

RGI had abandoned its business as a reseller of IBM GSD computers late last year after the firm reached an out-of-court settlement with IBM.  Terms of the settlement agreement are subject to a non-disclosure agreement and therefore not disclosed.

RGI is an operating unit of InAmerica Consulting, which is an Oklahoma-based turnaround consultancy.
