GPS GUARDIAN

Let’s Get Serious

In 1996, we were all shocked when the media reported that 9 year old Amber Hagerman was abducted, sexually assaulted, and then murdered.  We at InAmerica, were so outraged, that we set out to do something about it.  It took almost four days for the authorities to find Amber’s body, and in that time, our engineers came up with a technology that would dramatically increase a family’s chances to avoid the devastation that Amber’s family felt.

Not to minimize the eventual AMBER Alert legislation that was passed, we believed the parents of an abducted child needed a more immediate proactive solution that could mobilize the police into direct action.  Our solution at the time, was to design a microchip, capable of being inserted under the skin of a child, that would bounce a received signal coming through cellular telephone towers such that, as soon as a child went missing, the parents could activate the chip and via triangulation, the child’s location could be determined in seconds.

By consulting with physicians and researchers having experience with pacemakers, we were confident we could bring this chip to the marketplace, if only to give parents a fighting chance against a predator.  What we hadn’t anticipated, was the rejection of the product on grounds of the chip being an invasion of privacy.  Big Brother if you will!  As a result, we were unable to acquire the capital investment to build the network and assure a safe, efficient child-security tool.

    A Brave New World

As you can see from our other laboratory efforts, the world has changed considerably since 1996. . . and more so since 2001.

Today, issues of privacy are ignored in an attempt to provide some security from terrorist threats.  And the child predators have become more bold.  In this mixed up world, the rights of the predators are obsessed over while the rights of the child are ignored.

We’ve had enough.  The madness has advanced, but then, so has the technology.  Today, every phone has a GPS unit in it.  Unfortunately, a child predator knows this and will not hang on to a child’s phone so he can be caught.  Moreover, today, I doubt a worried parent will agonize over the loss of a child’s privacy if it gives them a better than even chance of getting their child back.

We believe we can develop an advanced technology based upon GPS, to reside under a child’s skin, only to be activated, when an alert is sent.  This is not like programming your child’s phone to track where he or she goes.  We view that as a parenting issue.  All we want to do, is get the chiold back before the predator fulfills his sick obsession.

We welcome your comments on this issue.
